1.
I am the face in the leaves I am the laughter in the forest I am the king in the wood And I'm the blade of grass Thrusting through the stone cold clay Oh I'm the blade of grass Thrusting through the stone cold clay In the death of winter I am before and I am after I go down but I will always Always rise again I go down but I will always Always rise again I am John Barleycorn I must die to be reborn I go down But I will always Always rise again I am Lord Jesus Christ I choose to be sacrificed I go down But I will always Always rise again I am a green green man In this still green land Strike me down But I will always Always rise again I am the face in the leaves I am the laughter in the forest I am the king in the wood And I'm the blade of grass Thrusting through the stone cold clay Oh I'm the blade of grass Thrusting through the stone cold clay
2.
Because words used well are never enough We shall accompany them Because words come from within our bodies We shall nurture them Because words used well can break the chains of tyranny We shall use them wisely Because words used well can breach the veil of heaven We shall summon them Because words come from the one word We shall listen to the root
3.
First they came for the immigrants But I was not an immigrant So I said nothing Next they came for the unemployed But I was not unemployed So I said nothing Then they came for the old and sick And took away their walking stick But I was not old and sick So I said nothing When they came for the young and bold I was not young and bold So I said nothing Finally they came for me But by then no one was still free To stand up tall And speak for me So no one said nothing No one said anything at all

about

SONGS AND CHANTS FOR THE COMMON GOOD
written and sung by ANTHONY WARD with support from Nathan Lewis Williams on Bouzouki and Gerry Barnett on Cello.

Songs And Chants For The Common Good is named in honour of friends in the Green Party who are standing in the coming Election against the Grey Parties in Somerset and the UK.

These Grey Parties – Lib, Lab and Con - continue in their ignorance and delusion to promote consumerism and globalisation using and abusing Mother Earth’s precious life blood for private profit.

The result is the continuing politics of violence based on 'Divide And Rule' and the nightmare of runaway climate change and environmental degradation for ourselves, our children and our children’s children.

So let’s not hide our Love, Compassion and Wisdom in the gift shops of Avalon. Let’s celebrate the beauty of 'The Face In The Leaves' and make peace with Mother Earth.

Blessings to River Brue Historian Bruce Garrard and the Men of Glastonbury Men Beyond 50 – Kevin, Ian, Tim, Alastair, Martin and myself, who since June 2014 have followed in Bruce’s footsteps walking and tracing the path of the neglected, canalized, polluted and dismembered River Brue from its sources above Bruton to the sea.

Salutations too to Alan Ereira Director of the Kogi film ALUNA and founder of the Tairona Heritage Trust - www.taironatrust.org and Felipe Viveros, fellow Order Of Interbeing member and UK Co-ordinator of the Black Line Initiative (www.blacklineinitiative) of the Kogi Mamas, the 'Guardians of the World' in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Mountains of Colombia.

ALUNA with its call to honour and respect our living waters and waterways has inspired the River Brue research of Bruce Garrard and GMB50 and the focus on fresh living water the most fundamental life giving element on Mother Earth for the first Glastonbury Peacemakers Festival on Gandhi’s birthday and UN International Day Of Non-Violence in the sacred landscape of the Isle of Avalon.

Blessed are the Peacemakers...There is no way to Peace – Peace is the way.........
